Al fondo riela (Lo Otro del Uno)
Rocío Molina is one of the leading figures of the new era in flamenco dance. Following in the footsteps of pioneers like Israel Galván, she challenges traditional dogmas, reinventing a flamenco that honors its essence while embracing the avant-garde. Awarded the Silver Lion for Dance at the Venice Biennale in 2022, the Málaga-born choreographer and dancer (or bailaora, in flamenco terminology) brings to GUIdance Al fondo riela (Lo Otro del Uno), the second piece in her Trilogy on the Guitar.
In this performance, Molina appears dressed entirely in black, accompanied by two exceptionally talented guitarists. Al fondo riela (Lo Otro del Uno) explores the theme of losing touch with reality, as Molina dances farrucas, seguiriyas, bulerías, and soleás in a constant battle with her own reflection. She plunges into the depths of her fears, seeking to liberate herself from all her ghosts.
