Our ancestry is future and present, and we are many bodies in dense, intense, erotic, sisterly relationships. There is an annihilation of linear time, concrete space, and this cry is uttered in a narrative that is disordered but precise, without geography but with the geographies of our stories. From our great-grandmothers, grandmothers, mothers, and ourselves, daughters of a history that needs to be rewritten because those who told it did not possess the truth, only power. These bodies are political; they celebrate, desire, revolt, love, protest. They are bodies of work, violent bodies, poetic bodies, bodies of pleasure. Bodies that are non-conforming and unformatted. This is a time so ancient that we haven't yet encountered it ahead of us.
Piny was born in Lisbon in 1981, with Portuguese and Angolan heritage. She completed her bachelor's degree in Architecture at FAUTL in 2007 and a postgraduate degree in Set Design in 2009. In the same year, she finished the "Scenography, Dance, and Architecture" training in Paris at École National d’Architecture and CND. Her journey in dance began in 1999, where she started studying Middle Eastern and North African dances. Since 2006, she has been immersed in learning, researching, and teaching North American urban dances, including Breakdance, Hip Hop, House, Vogue, and Waacking, exploring the fusion of these dance languages. This learning journey has taken her through various European cities and New York, in both informal and formal settings.
