DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON
A gente na boate sofre
At the height of the disco era, it wasn't just the most danceable songs that hit the charts. At the end of the party, sad songs played for the soon-to-be broken-hearted. “A gente na boate sofre” (We suffer in the nightclub) is a dramaturgical gesture and an expansion in the field of dance, originating from a pick-up note from the 70s – it is a utopian and ghostly space for solitary dance (physical/verbal/spiritual) of our ghost-archives and medium-memory that occupied the architecture of nightclubs at their peak, before the advent of AIDS. A verbose disco to embrace our suffering and update the idea of a beautiful – and shared – future ahead.
(Due to circumstances beyond the control of Teatro Oficina, the artistic residency and respective public presentation of "Na boate a gente sofre" (Creation Grant - Dramaturgy) by Diego Bragà will be postponed to March 2024, in the context of the 6th Edition of the New Dramaturgies Festival.)
