Rodrigo Leão "Piano para Piano"
Two concerts in the same night: the presentation of "Piano para Piano," the new album by Rodrigo Leão and his daughter Rosa, who joins him in this performance; and "Vitral Submerso" (in the 1st part), the story of a return to the origins by Carlos Maria Trindade.
In an intimate setting, reflecting the complicity that only a father and daughter can share, the Portuguese musician and composer Rodrigo Leão returns to CCVF to present his new album "Piano para Piano." Created for performance as a dialogue between two acoustic pianos, it showcases the talents of Leão himself and his daughter, Rosa Leão.
Rodrigo Leão is the first to admit that he is not a pianist, but the truth is that the piano has appeared in his work as a complement to the synthesizers he has often used to write memorable melodies and conceive the enveloping arrangements that have been brought to life with the ensembles he created. "Piano para Piano" is a journey into a marvelous unknown, signed by one of the most celebrated Portuguese composers.
"Vitral Submerso" tells the story of Carlos Maria Trindade's return to his roots. It is also the title of a concert for solo piano, as well as a new album. After several decades of playing synthesizers, the keyboardist of Heróis do Mar and Madredeus returns to the grand piano with a set of compositions he started creating in 2018. This was when he reintroduced into his studio the 1920 Grotrian-Steinweg baby grand piano, purchased for him by his father when he was only 5 years old. The result of this solitary adventure is found in the sound of the pieces from this new album, which wander in a kind of deliberate neoclassicism, born from varied emotions and a quite extensive musical life.
