"Popular" is a challenge-performance that stems from the autofiction in which the creator and performer aims to be a popular artist, challenging the standards of the cultural landscape and the popular universe through a fusion of both. The proposal capitalizes on the existing friction between elite culture and mass culture to contemplate the audience as a collective and the social divisions that this tension may reflect. Blending biography and research, this creation leads to questioning other concepts belonging to the same lexical family as the word "popular," such as popularity, pop, and populism. "Popular" will always question whether it could have been, or not, popular.

Project winner of the 6th edition of the Amélia Rey Colaço Grant, an initiative promoted by 'A Oficina/Centro Cultural Vila Flor, Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, O Espaço do Tempo, and Teatro Viriato.

At the end of the show, the audience is invited to stay for a conversation with Sara Inês Gigante, moderated by Mickaël de Oliveira.
